LipoDissolve, sometimes called Mesotherapy, is an effective treatment designed to eliminate specific areas of fat. A series of painless injections of medications placed just under the surface of the skin, the procedure typically results in fat loss and cellulite reduction. Although not a replacement for liposuction because it only dissolves small amounts of fat, Lipo Dissolve is a smart alternative for the person looking to target specific body parts and melt away stubborn inches that are not responding to proper diet and exercise.

THE PROCEDURE

Patients are evaluated for past medical history and any contradictions to having fat reducing procedures performed. After confirming normal vital signs the patients are taken to a procedure room where they change into a patient gown. The phosphatidyl choline solution is prepared at the time of the procedure. The cosmetic area to be treated is outlined and a grid is drawn over the area to identify the points of injection. Small amounts of chemical are injected under the skin into the underlying fat, using tiny needles, resulting in minimal pain. When the procedure is complete the area is chilled with iced compresses for 10 minutes followed by application of a compression bandage. Patients are able to drive themselves home without assistance.

POSTOPERATIVE COURSE

Immediately following the procedure the skin will begin to turn red and it may swell slightly. Usually within six hours, reddness continues and swelling becomes more pronounced and hardened on treated area of the skin. Patients experience moderate discomfort in the area for the next 24-48 hours and may take Tylenol as needed for comfort. Patients are able to do most activities. Over the next several days redness subsides and discomfort disappears. The tissue remains firm for up to several weeks. Lipodissolve is a remarkably safe procedure. Side effects are rare and include slight risk of scarring, infection, and bruising. The procedure can cause transient itching, burning, nausea, or diarrhea. Long term side effects are unknown.
