CO2 laser resurfacing is the gold standard in skin resurfacing. Superior results in rejuvenatng sun-damaged skin, reducing fine liens and wrinkles, and in tightening skin are obtained with this procedure. At the same time prolonged redness of 6-12 weeks has limited its usefulness and teh fractional lasers have largely supplanted their use. Nevertheless, for the optimal results in skin resurfacing, MetropolitanMD will continue to offer the CO2 laser resurfacing procedure.

Fractionated laser resurfacing was first developed by Fraxel and now mostly supplanted by Affirm. The Affirm laser by Cynosure is MetropolitanMD's newest additon. It has a dual action of tightening skin and removing surface irregularities, contours, and superficial wrinkles - all at one time. Treatments are almost painless and there is no downtime.
