IPL

IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light and these instruments actually use the whole rainbow of visible light as well as some of the rays of infrared light. Because of its many colors the IPL can treat a variety of conditions at once. This lends it to be the vehicle for the Photofacial and PDT therapies noted below. Red spots, brown spots, telangiectasia, and rough skin all respond to the IPL and in most cases leave no telltale signs of treatment. Patients return to work immediately while resolution of skin problems will take weeks. These treatments are usually repeated for maximal effect.
