Dr. Edward Lack is featured in the May 26, 2009 Forbes.com article: The Latest Options In Dermal Fillers
Chicago, IL, May 26, 2009 – Dr. Edward Lack MD, dermatologic cosmetic surgeon and President of MetropolitanMD, a cosmetic surgical practice in Chicago IL., was interviewed by Kiri Blakely of Forbes.com to explain the difference between different fillers used to augment cosmetic units of the face.
Dr. Lack pointed out that while these products have a long track record of safety and efficacy, much of the information used in advertising these products is exaggerated and cannot be substantiated. Furthermore, due to the many conflicting reports promoted by the manufacturers of these products doctors have become confused and have begun to believe some of these exaggerated reports.
For instance, one plastic surgeon thought that Perlane lasted much longer than Restylane. Dr. Lack questioned the validity of the doctor’s opinion and when the reporter called Medicis to ask their opinion they would only say that according to the FDA filing of the products the opposite is true. That is, Restylane lasts longer than Perlane. Dr. Lack pointed out that neither statement is true as it is presented.
Ultimately, Dr. Lack stated that these products are excellent for facial rejuvenation and which products are used should be the topic of discussion between a patient and a cosmetic surgeon.
