The Botox Non-Surgical Facelift elevates sagging eyebrows, sloping corners of the mouth, early jowl formation in the cheeks, and collapse of the folds beneath the corners of the mouth which cause unwanted lines and wrinkles. The Botox Non-Surgical Facelift uses knowledge of opposing muscles of facial expression to selectively make the upward lifting muscles of the face stronger than muscles which pull it down. Unlike the use of botox to eliminate lines and wrinkles this is a very delicate procedure in which botox is administered in small doses to specific muscle groups over a period of weeks to achieve its desired results. For this reason, only cosmetic surgical practices with a strong knowledge of facial anatomy are performing this procedure.
The results of these procedures improve with each treatment so that patients can expect to return for their second series of injections in 3 months and their third series in 6 months or longer. While not suited for severe facial sagging, botox non-surgical facelift is a cosmetic enhancement which promotes a youthful and relaxed appearance and can be combined with botox procedures which eliminate lines and wrinkles. Similarly it can be combined with fillers to provide more fullness for collapsing facial units, and fillers last up to twice as long as normal when combined with botox so significant cost savings can be achieved. Lastly, don't forget to join the MetropolitanMD VIP program which provides 25 per cent discounts on botox and 10 per cent discounts on fillers.

Botox is often used to erase wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and around the eyes. It can erase wrinkles of the upper and lower lipos as well as deepening lines that originate at the corners of the mouth and travel down toward the chin. By relaxing the muscles that cause dynaminc lines patients look and feel relaxed without having that frozen look that looks artificial.

Dysport was released in July 2009 by the FDA as an equal alternative to Botox. For all practical purposes both Dysport and Botox are the same molecule and both have equivalent actions. Dysport has been safely used in Europe since 1991 and has been used for cosmetic, ophthalmic, and neurologic disorders. Early results in the United States appear to confirm company literature that the onset of action of Dysport is usually within 2 days and it may spread farther than Botox. Medicis also claims Dysport lasts longer than Botox, but that has not been substantiated in the United States. Patients in our clinic have expressed satisfaction with Dysport and a wish to continue its use. Retreatment is indicated every 4-6 months, though individual experiences may differ.

Botox has recently been approved for migraine headaches and it may be the most effective treatment available for 50% of migraine headache sufferers. The injection sites must be individualized to specific muscles of the head and neck depending on the needs of the patient. It is advisable to have injections performed by a physician with significant experience in injecting botox for migraine headaches as injections into uninvolved muscles will not improve headaches. Relief of headaches typically lasts 12 weeks and will need to be repeated four times per year. Health insurance policies may now cover botox injections for migraine headaches but different policies have rules so it is adviseable to call your insurance company to determine your own benefits.
