Restylane

Conveniently located to serve Chicago and North Shore

Patients who want to get rid of moderate and harsh facial wrinkles can turn to Restylane in Chicago. This injectable is the perfect option to achieve younger, more vibrant skin, shaving years off of a patient’s appearance.

What is Restylane?

Restylane logoIt is an injectable formulated to address numerous signs of aging on different parts of the face. It can make wrinkles less visible while still maintaining a natural look.

The injections can target folds around the mouth, lips, eyes, and cheeks without interfering with the patient’s natural expressions. The result is an appearance that looks years younger.

How Does Restylane Work?

Restylane is composed of synthetic hyaluronic acid (HA). HA is naturally found in the body, where it creates and preserves volume. When it is injected into target areas, the HA in the product bonds with water molecules in the skin tissue. This creates new volume, filling in wrinkles and folds.

Am I a Good Candidate for Restylane?

Patients who have lines and wrinkles that they want to make less visible or get rid of non-surgically are ideal candidates for this procedure. Patients should be in good health, and realistic expectations are key.

Patients with active skin infections in the treatment area should resolve these before coming in for the treatment. In order to get the full benefits of this dermal filler, patients should quit drinking and smoking prior to their injection session.

Your Consultation

It is imperative for patients to schedule a consultation if they want to get this treatment. A consultation will give patients the answers they are looking for regarding the benefits of this cosmetic option. During the patient’s visit, the target areas will be examined to determine exactly how they can best be treated. The patient’s medical history will also be discussed, including any allergies they may have, any recent treatments, and all current medications.

Your Restylane Session

An injection can be done in the office and won’t take longer than a few minutes to an hour. The duration will depend on what the patient wants to achieve and which areas will be targeted. Once the treatment areas have been identified, the injectable will be administered until the desired results are achieved. Because the product typically contains a local anesthetic called lidocaine, the procedure is not painful.

Restylane Aftercare

The recovery period following successful administration of this procedure is virtually non-existent. The process itself can be done during a lunch break, and the patient can then return to work with no issues. However, patients will be advised not to apply pressure on the affected areas for at least two days following their session.

How Much Does Restylane Cost?

The treatment cost can depend on several factors, including the patient’s specific needs. Price can be determined during the consultation once the target areas and the patient’s expectations have been discussed.

Restylane FAQ

  • Does Restylane Hurt?

Although the needle used for these injections is very fine, some people may experience mild discomfort, a local anesthetic cream or a mixture of Laughing gas (Nitrous Oxide) may be used.

  • Can Restylane be Used If I’ve Had a Laser Treatment or Chemical Peel?

If you have recently had another cosmetic treatment, we recommend you wait until the area has completely healed and your skin is back to its normal condition.

  • Is There Any Downtime with Restylane?

Immediately following your treatment, you can expect some slight redness, swelling, pain, tenderness, itching and/or bruising – just as you might expect with any type of injection. However, the discomfort is temporary and generally disappears after a few days. With lip enhancement, it is wise to choose your treatment time with care since your lips may become swollen and appear slightly uneven for a few days.

  • Are There Any Risks with Restylane?

Since this dermal filler was introduced in 1996, it has been used in more than 6 million treatments worldwide. There are a few common injection-site reactions that might occur after this treatment, but they usually go away within a day or two. These reactions include redness, swelling, pain, itching, bruising, or tenderness at the injection site. Rarely, inflammation may last for up to two weeks. After a lip enhancement, your lips may be swollen for several days.

  • Are There Any Side Effects with Restylane?

Most people can benefit from Restylane treatment, but it has not been tested on pregnant or breastfeeding women. It should not be used in or near areas where you have or have had inflammation, active skin disease, or related conditions. It should not be injected into an area where you have a permanent implant.

As with any medical or surgical procedure, there are risks involved with a Restylane injection. Please review the Restylane website for additional information.
